Support Officer

We are looking for committed individuals to join us as Support Officers, to provide vital administrative expertise across a variety of departments in the National Crime Agency, for example; International, Payroll, Organisation Services or IT.

Naturally you'll need to have meticulous attention to detail and an ability to work well under pressure in dynamic environments.

You will prioritise work, paying attention to detail, and ensure it is completed on time - tight deadlines are often an integral aspect of tasks allocated to Support Officers. You will carry out various administrative tasks such as preparing documents, booking rooms and organising events. Good IT skills will be vital so you will need to be competent with Microsoft Office and other systems.

Your varied duties mean that every day will bring a new challenge. The often time-critical nature of your activities will mean you must be able to multi-task and prioritise.

You may be expected to work directly or indirectly in tackling child sexual exploitation and abuse. This may involve exposure to child sexual abuse images and material. All officers working on or supporting this type of operational activity will undergo a psychological assessment on taking up the role and at regular intervals once in post.

As a Support Officer, we will offer you the opportunity to undertake a 12 month, L3 Business Administration Apprenticeship. This apprenticeship will allow you to manage communications, coordinate activities and improve processes. Our Support Officer roles have a strong customer focus and there is a lot of variety in the tasks that you'll do.

This is a brilliant opportunity to learn whilst you earn and develop your business skills and confidence along the way.

We have a number of vacancies across a wide variety of areas within the National Crime Agency from supporting our International Crime Bureau to supporting our Corporate Service functions.

Salary

19,046 - Roles based in London will receive an additional London Weighting Allowance of 3,258. Pay principles on Civil Service transfers apply for current civil servants transferring to the NCA at the equivalent grade.

Locations

Roles are available in London, Warrington, Birmingham, East Midlands, Bristol and Wyboston.

Please note: The majority of vacancies in East Midlands and some roles in Warrington will require shift work. These 24/7 vacancies attract a shift allowance of 12.5% of salary

The Selection Process

  • Stage 1 - Complete the on-line application form
  • Stage 2 - Shortlist stage (This will be 250 words based on 'Collaborating and Partnering')
  • Stage 3 - Online assessment, if successful at Stage 2, you will be invited to complete an online assessment. The online assessment consists of a verbal and inductive reasoning test. Instructions on requesting reasonable adjustments will be provided at Stage 3.
  • Stage 4 - If successful at Stage 3, you will be invited to attend an online video interview, which will assess against the above selection criteria.

Candidates who meet the required standard at interview will be posted in merit order by their location preferences.

Candidates who are successful but not initially posted as a result of this recruitment process will be placed onto a reserve list to be considered for potential vacancies over a 12 month period in merit order and by location preference.
