The role of Europe Research Analyst
We currently have three types of roles available within Research Analysts and European Directorate: Europe Research Analyst, Principal Research Analyst and Senior Principal Research Analyst. They each offer the exciting opportunity to provide high-quality, expert analysis of European Affairs, which will inform policy-making at the highest levels. As part of each of the roles, you will also be responsible for expert training on European affairs across the FCO and Government. You will build and maintain networks both within and outside of Government, to gather the collective expertise of some of the best and brightest minds of our time. The role is London-based but you will be expected to travel.
We strongly advise that you find out more about each role, and depth of experience and expertise they require, to establish which one you would be best suited to apply for.
We are recruiting Europe Research Analysts at C5, D6, and D7 grades. If you want to be considered for more than one grade, you only need to apply once and during the application process, you will be asked which grade or grades that you want to be considered for.
You must be a British Citizen and have been a resident in the UK for two out of the last ten years prior to your application. You will have, or be able to obtain, security clearance vetting to a high level (Developed Vetting). You will have a wide range of knowledge about European and EU affairs, with a post-graduate qualification (Masters or PhD) in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience. You may also have relevant publications. As an expert on Europe, you will be respected by your peers and have experience of working within an academic environment. You will be able to grow a network both inside and outside of Government, or you may already have an extensive network to build on. With strong communication skills, you will have at least a B2 level in one or more European languages, or be willing and able to develop your language skills to C1/C2 level.
