Welcome

Adur Bridge

At West Sussex, we have a clear and compelling vision of what we want to achieve for our residents. We're ambitious, driven and excited about making the county the best place in the country to live, work, visit and raise a family.

The county benefits from some of the finest countryside and coastline the country has to offer but is only an 80 minute train journey from London, at most and closer in northern parts of the county.

With high levels of investment in our roads and a thriving countryside that is enjoyed by residents and visitors, our service encompasses several major capital programmes and significant contracts, and we are now recruiting to key posts to help us in their delivery.

This is a particularly exciting time to be working for WSCC Highways and Transport; we have a pipeline of Local Enterprise Partnership funded schemes up to a potential value of £250m over the next 6 years and we have installed a number of innovative contract frameworks to create further partnerships with our contractors and consultants.

With a highway network of over 4,000km in length WSCC highway infrastructure assets have a combined value in excess of £6bn. With DfT annual grant funding in the region of £18m for Capital improvements, West Sussex strives to continuously improve infrastructure asset management in these challenging times.

We have a strong and collaborative relationship with our term maintenance contractor and together we deliver programmes and schemes with a value of up to £50m per annum.

We are proud of the initiatives we have implemented to respond to the changing demands placed on local authorities including the 'Watershed Programme' and the 'Better Roads Programme'.

As well as these exceptional career opportunities, you will find yourself in one of the most spectacular environments in the UK. There are high performing schools, colleges and universities on your doorstep, a wide range of housing options, stunning coastal areas, the South Downs National Park, culture and major cities close at hand; the work/life balance in West Sussex is truly exceptional.

'At West Sussex County Council we care about our staff and their development, and this is an exciting time to come and join our team. If you think these opportunities are for you, we're looking forward to hearing from you.'

Lucy Monie, Director of Highways and Transport
